Your Denver Remodeling Contractor is EPA Certified

Epa Certified RemodelerNew federal EPA rules effective 4/22/10 mandate that significant contracted painting and carpentry work on your home must be done by EPA lead-safe certified firms.

O'Brien Construction is a leader in compliance with new EPA mandated lead-safe work practices, with five EPA certified renovators on staff. We can test for lead and design and implement EPA lead-safe work procedures for your interior or exterior painting projects. All pre-1978 homes must comply with new EPA regulations which require that even painting estimates only be performed by EPA certified firms. We can minimize your compliance expense with careful surface-by-surface testing to exclude areas where no lead is present.

Frequently asked questions about the EPA's new lead-safe work rules.

What homes are affected by the new rules?
Any house built before Jan. 1, 1978 must comply with EPA RRP rules for Renovation,
Repair and Painting.

How will these rules affect homeowners?
If your house was built before Jan. 1, 1978 prospective contractors for RRP who work on your home must present you with the EPA's "Renovate Right" pamphlet. They must be a lead-safe certified firm to offer RRP services. They must assume lead is present unless testing contradicts that. RRP rules must be followed if lead is present in order to contain and remove debris, paint chips and dust generated by the work.

Where can I get more details?
Go to the EPA website: www.epa.gov/lead

I do not have children in my home. Can I opt out of the EPA's rules?
The law has been that if no children under six, or pregnant women live in the home, the homeowner could "opt out". New federal regulations published May 6, 2010 eliminated the "opt out" rule entirely effective July 6, 2010. If you want to opt out, CONTACT US NOW - work must be completed by July 6, 2010.
