Art On Your Bathroom Wall
Bathroom walls are traditionally
tiled or wallpapered and fitted
with functional objects such as
medicine cabinets, towel racks,
and hair dryers. In recent years
many builders and homeowners
have been inspired by European
trends and separated the bath
from the toilet, creating yet
another area for art. Today’s
homes can come with huge tubs
that may be sunken, lined with
stones, or have gold faucets.
However, you probably won’t find
these elements in most homes.
Your bathroom may be a totally
functional room yet you can
create a wonderful ‘Spa’
environment with just a few
pieces.
Your choice of imagery can be
amazingly varied including
elegant black and white nudes,
colorful close-up views of
exotic fauna, cascading
waterfalls and much more. A
collection of small prints or
one large fantastic image can
create a feeling of tranquility
or sensual delight.
How can you create the look
you want?
1. Set aside a time to get into
a tub full of a favorite
fragrance.
2. Close your eyes and let your
imagination take you away.
3. Wherever your daydream takes
you look around at the colors,
textures.
4. Let your senses enjoy the
trip.
Tips for Framing: Tell
your framer that the piece is
going into a room with humidity
so that they can suggest the
right materials. If you are
purchasing a frame at a retail
store, be sure to seal the back
of the finished piece with a
cardboard section, wax paper
with another paper on top. Glue
this around the edges and you
won’t have to worry about
warping or water damage of any
kind.
The bathroom should become a
sanctuary for relaxation. Now
you can go shopping for a few
new towels and rugs to finish
the look you have created for
you own personal domain.
